Ohessa ote Halosen englanninkielisestä TV-haastattelusta kun hänen johtamansa ILO:n globalisaatiotyöryhmän raportti julkistettiin. Halonen pitää tätä merkittävimpänä saavutuksenaan ja hänellä oli parhaat asiantuntijat käytettävissään. Tässä tulosta, tekstin olen lainannut Unto Hämäläisen blogin palautteesta.
Q: What is the basic problem that you identify then with globalization?
A: So tha it could be the very positive thing that today there are too fee too few who win and and too many who will lose and now we would like to get the the fair globalization and and we think that that we have the means and we have the spirit and thats the result of the two years. So I think so that the one of the key points is that that the people both in the North and in the South they are looking for the job the decent work for the decent life. And the second point is that we have been too much perhaps involved in markets which are has such very important because they have the dynamics of the markets. But we should also see the other actors like a nation state and also the other actors of of of that than especially to see that we should see how the globalization could fulfil the needs of the people not only the markets and the people of course are part of the markets
Q: I think a lot of people would understand the sense of if, certainly. But theyd say what practical conclusions do you come to?
A: So Yea As I said already we have several proposals and you can see the different ways. You can see that which kind of the Globe we have for the nation state and I think you might be a little bit surprised that when we say that that the nation state is not dead but we should need a strong nation state in order to have good frameworks at the national level but also nation states are those who are the actors at the at an international level. And so what we need also we bet that we need of course a better governing system for for globalization at global level
